About Teton Pass

If you are an avid backcountry skier and have never heard about Teton Pass, this is your opportunity to learn about this popular, but rather unknown ski destination. Teton Pass is a high mountain pass located between Jackson, Wyoming and Victor, Idaho. It is accessed from Jackson Hole Valley and crossed by Wyoming Highway 22, also known as the Teton Pass Highway.

Accessing the pass

During the winter months, the road leading to Teton Pass is often unpassable as avalanches are common in the area. The maximum grade of the road is ten, which means that it is easily cleared. In order to check road conditions, skiers log on to the Teton Pass website and view a live webcam of the road.

Popular activities

The Teton Pass is notably popular with backcountry skiers, but is also a common location for snowboarding and mountain biking. Teton Pass Ski Resort itself has an area of 400 acres and is located within the Lewis and Clark National Forest. There are no ski lifts, but the pass does offer a lot of continuous vertical runs.

Why choose Teton Pass

In addition to the unparalleled backcountry skiing, there are several other reasons to choose Teton Pass for your next ski trip. The trip is much less expensive than visiting a large ski town. The local culture is also unbeatable and people are rather friendly.

If you are looking for uninhibited backcountry skiing, snowboarding or even some winter mountain biking, Teton Pass is the place. Keep the driving conditions and safety in mind and you cannot go wrong!
